Iran would welcome ‘any Lebanese national agreement’

TEHRAN, Dec. 10 (MNA) – Deputy-minister for Arab and African affairs has told Lebanese minister of finance national dialogue is crucial to bring general agreement of political parties.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ali Hassan Khalil discussed on Thursday the latest political developments in Lebanon and matters of mutual interests. Amir-Abdollahian emphasized upon improving mutual ties with Lebanon especially in trade. He also reiterated Iran’s ‘highly principled position’ on supporting peace and stability in Lebanon and believed that national dialogue which was an initiative by Mr. Nabih Berri, Parliament Speaker, was a positive step forward to bring a general consensus to political parties in the country. He also voiced Iran’s unconditional support for any accord which comes out of the national dialogue.

Lebanese minister for his part appreciated Islamic Republic of Iran’s constructive role in helping solve current political crises in the region and fighting terrorism. Mr. Khalil also said his country welcomed improving of trade and economic relations with Iran.
